Individual Goal (MBO) Setting Approval Process for Managers

When to Use This Guide

Use this document to guide you through adding Individual Goals (MBO).

Approving Goals for Your TSM

  1. You will receive an e-mail notification that a goal setting form has been sent to you
  2. Access your Workday Inbox and locate the Goal Setting form for your TSM
  3. Click Get Started
  4. Review the goals
  5. If you would like to edit, delete or add a goal you can send the form back to the TSM by clicking Send Back or edit it yourself. To edit it yourself:
    • If you would like to edit an existing goal, click on the goal you would like to edit and make any changes
    • If you would like to remove a goal, click the Remove button associated with the goal you want to remove
    • If you would like to add a goal, click the Add button at the bottom of the form, and enter a new goal name, goal description, and goal weighting
    • The total of your individual goal weightings must be 100%
  6. Click Next
  7. Once reviewed and/or edited, click Submit
    • If an edit is needed when in the Review/Submit step, click the Individual Goals (MBO) section in the left menu.
  8. Once successfully submitted, it will go to your manager for final approval
    • Repeat steps 2–7 as the second level manager

*Please Note: Goals are not considered final until they are approved by the second level manager. TSMs will not be able to track in progress comments until approved.

Access the Team Performance application on your homepage, then click the My Team’s Bonus Targets report to view your TSMs’ bonus details

*In the case of newly eligible HSIP Participants, there might be a slight delay in viewing your Functional Financial Goals (FFGs) and Section Weights

To see where your TSM’s goals are in the approval process, click the Team Performance application on your homepage, review the Outstanding Form Status Summary report.

Individual Goal Setting Second Level Review

Completed

  • The TSM drafts the Individual Goals (MBO) for the upcoming year.
  • The form is sent forward by the TSM to the first level manager to review and/or make changes to the TSM’s Individual Goals (MBO). Note: the form can be routed back to the TSM for additional editing.
  • The first level manager provides a final review before forwarding the form to the second level manager.

Please Note: It is recommended that the first level supervisor review the Individual Goals (MBO) with the TSM before forwarding the form to the Second Level Manager.

  • The Second Level Manager can provide feedback and send the form back to the first level manager and/or the TSM, or make the necessary changes needed themselves.
  • The Second Level Manager provides a final review before forwarding the form to the Complete step.

Please Note: The Second Level Manager can make changes to the existing goals.

  • The Individual Goals (MBO) have been fully approved and are visible on the TSM’s record. Please refer to the “Tracking Progress on your Individual Goals (MBO) QRG” for more information on how to track your goal progress throughout the year.
